North Country Council Services

Watershed Council Committees

Responsible Staff: Christine Walker

Purpose

A number of rivers and watersheds have Local Area Committee’s (LAC’s) formed to develop and implement management plans for their rivers and watersheds. NCC can provide staff on a limited basis to be a member of these committees and assist them in the development and implementation of the river management plans.

Description

Staff can be available to be members and/or advisors to LAC’s throughout the region to assist in the development of a LAC, oversee the development of a river or watershed management plan and to help in the development of programs and projects that a LAC would do as part of their management plan. This could include grant writing, fund raising, project development, contracting for services, development of marketing material, development of protection plans and other activities that a LAC of a river or watershed would undertake.

Timeframe

Ongoing - dependent on frequency of LAC meetings.
