North Country Council Internship

North Country Council is seeking an intern for a temporary position. North Country Council is the regional planning commission and economic development district serving the communities in the northern third of New Hampshire. Our offices are located on the Rocks Estate in Bethlehem, NH. Assistance is being sought for research related to the updated and expanded regional plan being developed with a federal Sustainable Communities Partnership Regional Planning Grant. This work is being conducted in conjunction with the state’s other eight regional planning commissions under the umbrella name “Granite State Future.”
Specific duties:
Conduct research and compile information to be used in regional plan background and strategies on such topics as housing needs and equity, water and wastewater infrastructure, climate change impacts, energy efficiency and green building.
Other duties related to the regional plan as required.
Qualifications:
Junior or Senior, Graduate student, or recent graduate in planning, environmental policy, or related field.
Demonstrated research and writing skills through course work or prior internship experience.
Interest in learning about and helping to address the challenges of applying smart growth/livability principles in rural areas.
This is a paid temporary position consisting of approximately 400 hours of effort to be completed no later than September 30. The hourly rate will be based on the qualifications and experience of the successful applicant.
The successful applicant will have the ability to work independently as part of a team of professionals, follow direction, complete tasks on time, and interact with state agencies and municipalities in a professional manner.
