Planner Positions

Transportation Planner

North Country Council, the regional planning commission and economic development district serving the 51 municipalities and 25 unincorporated places of northern New Hampshire, seeks a professional planner to lead its transportation planning program. Position includes hands-on assistance to member communities, update and implementation of the region’s transportation plan, and special projects such as culverts inventory and assessment to increase the region’s resiliency.

Minimum requirements include a bachelor’s degree in planning or related field, a masters degree in planning, and 2 years of experience. Complex real-world transportation-related internship or research assistantship may be substituted for professional planning experience. Working knowledge of ArcGIS, rural transportation planning issues, and the land use-transportation interface are required. Must have strong interpersonal and written and oral communication skills; be able to make presentations; facilitate meetings; conduct public participation; develop, lead and manage projects with minimal supervision. Able to work well independently in a team environment.

North Country Council Internships

Internships Openings

North Country Council periodically seeks interns for temporary positions throughout the year. North Country Council is the regional planning commission and economic development district serving the communities in the northern third of New Hampshire. Our offices are located in downtown Littleton, N.H.

Internships available to assist with transportation data collection including traffic counts and culvert assessments. Will accompany NCC staff for fieldwork season.

Qualifications:

  • Junior or Senior, Graduate student, or recent graduate.
  • Valid drivers license, clean driving record, and own vehicle.
  • Good oral communication skills.
  • Ability to use standard computer equipment and mobile device.
  • Microsoft proficient

These are paid positions. The hourly rate will be based on the qualifications and experience of the successful applicant.

The successful applicants will have the ability to work independently as part of a team of professionals, follow direction, complete tasks on time, and interact with the public in a professional manner.
